Being A Blog Author

Hey all,

to Intanians who are not registered as Blog Authors (where you get to write blogposts for this site), please send me (LMK) your emails so I can register you as one. I'm the admin, meaning the Big Boss la, so you know what to do. Hehe.

I Was Reminded

I thought I'd post something here, seeing as I've just been revisited by George's great ghost.

It was a few hours ago that I was reminded to look up something in our senior year's school magazine, and decided to leaf through it as a break from Biology's several explanations on the mechanisms of impulse transmission across a synapse (influx of Calcium ions, blah blah blah).

And just going through it, my mind became flooded with the myriad of memories long kept somewhere in the dusty treasure chest at the back of my mind; almost forgotten and long silenced.

Can you remember the school mornings when you could have just anyone to talk to, from any class, just sit there and chat, and knowing that even if you were dreading that day, you'd still have that many people with you?

Can you remember recess and all that stupid jokes and our somewhat amateur take at national and school politics?

Can you remember skipping classes?

Can you picture the classrooms, and you, sitting there with your companion next to you, hate it or love it, and you, talking to the person at the other end of the classroom?

You, sharing a joke with the teacher and the class.

Laughing till you really cried.

Hugging a friend. (Or more)

Walking in the corridor and just being that carefree person that you are.

Going for silly society meetings or school outings, but laughing and talking a lot (too much, even).

Photographs and photographs and taking never-enough photographs, because there's no other way to remind ourselves of our youths, save these, writings and our slowly deteorating memory.

Can you remember loving SGGS so much, knowing that regardless of the unnecessary honours or bitching our school gets, we owe our memorable teenage years to the people we've met here, and that uniting bond that has brought us all together?

As I reached the "Graduating Seniors" page, I caught a glimpse of the word on the subcover, "It's the beginning of our lives" or something along the lines, and I thought, 'How funny'.

Perhaps in Form 5, we all thought that this was just the start - you know, going out into the 'real world' (whatever that means to Georgians), leaving Form 5, leaving school. Perhaps we thought that the road beyond 2007 would be the most amazing and flourishing times of our lives. And you know what, maybe we were right.

But it can't be the start. Hey, I'm pretty sure my journey included that proud clock tower, that crazy bunch of friends I've met, and the even crazier teachers guarding the school, and I bet it's the same for you, too.

I've learnt a lot from the people here - I've learn to voice out my opinions and communicate ideas, to lead, to laugh so very hard (oh you guys), to love (friends!), to cry, even, in front of friends, to share, to explore many possibilities and interests, and to appreciate.

Here's to the years in St. George's that has altered us in many ways. And here's to never ever forgetting them no matter what road we've taken or will be taking.

Though the destination is years and experiences away from our gaze, the journey began a long time ago.

Movie

So guys, how was/is your weekend? Sabine, sorry if I can't reply to your email just yet - will find the time to do so!

Last night (Saturday) I went for this documentary-screening called, "Running", about foreign workers and refugees in Malaysia. It was really interesting and it was definitely an eye-opener to the mishandlings of the country officers towards refugees, especially. I have the DVD copy if anyone is interested.

Tonight, there'll be another film show called, Revolusi '48 (The Malayan Revolution of '48) from the director who brought us the 20 minutes-film, "Sepuluh Tahun Sebelum Merdeka" (Fahmi Reza).

In fact, he'll be there, too!

Details are as follows:

Venue: D' Space(3rd floor, 62 Weld Quay)
Organisers: the Penang Film Club (we meet fortnightly
Time: 8.00pm

This is a great opportunity to meet this filmmaker, and you can definitely ask him questions, too. This will def suit those who love history or love Malaysia for all its beauty and pain.

Go for it, if it's not too late!

The Intan Photoshoot Collection 2006

At last! We all knew it was about time this got mentioned, so here it is - behold! You, reader, are about to view our famous 2006 class photoshoots!

Hold on to your seats. (: It's been awhile since we have revisited the beautiful memories of 2006, but it's never too easy to dash out that memory of numerous captures we've had, is it now? These photos have their own significances and holds testimony to the uniqueness and greatness embedded in the souls of the Legends of 4 Intan.

Seriously, though, I'm just trying to say I love you guys for having such wonderful personalities and humour. In true intanian appreciation, I say, you guys ROCK.

I hope you'll enjoy the brilliant masterpieces of 4I 2006 which I've pasted here for your viewing/reading pleasure. Contributions and comments are always welcomed!

The Early Picture

This particular photo marked the dawn of a career our Intan protégés partook. The model here, seen aptly holding a card depicting her crime.. err... I mean dilemma, will eventually be the wonderful official 4I make-up artist. A great start, no?

And so it began

Group Shots
The Stars of 4 Intan 2006

Thus, the ideas and photo collection grew. Here we highlight a few of our very own Intan celebrities. Really now, what class has Ronald MacDonald standing next to a curry puff-haired Elvis? Only in 4 Intan, man, only in 4 Intan.

Desperate Classmates

It is important to note that the Desperate Classmates from Macalister Lane are actually fellow Georgians where students are concurrently faced with Add Maths mysteries and History scandals. Oh-ho, and you thought you'd seen it all in that spin-off tv series they call Desperate Housewives. Poof!

From Right
: The super-skilled sweeper with a deadly burp (many scandals, this one), the hungry activist (not communist! shh), the hungrier klutz whose laughter is a mystery on its own, the culprit who ate all the recess food, the hairless-armpit being from somewhere, the other being who's in it on the Add Maths mystery, and the only innocent person in this picture. She could be the detective investigating it all.

Just to make it clear, ABC television copied us!

Good vs. Evil

This photo was actually our last one taken that year, remember? It was taken on the last day of school. It portrays the ongoing internal debates an Intanian has had to withstand between Good and Evil. Of course, more often than not, we follow Jeslyn... I mean, our Evil side.

But we're nice people... Right?

The Legends
One of the most important segments (and also our last part) of our class photoshoots is the individual photos. We don't have every one of our classmates here, though, but we will soon enough!

Chrisdolf Hitler

Ada Poppins

Sherilyn Bonaparte (who led the French Fries Revolution)

Mona Evonne

N.B. Mona Evonne is actually the great inspiration for Mona Lisa (which Da Vinci painted after time-travelling to 2006), but enough about him. The question is, is Mona Evonne smiling in this painting? We will never know...

Qisro

N.B. Qisro burns fire from all parts. Ignition comes from the mouth, hands, and the (oops a little fart!).

Phoenix

N.B. Tareeni's alter ego is the great phoenix, which, unfortunately, can be a drawback as noted from the second picture. Oh well.

The Indefatigable Spidermodel

Count Sabine

Count Sabine & Count Caroline (the count-erpart)

Guest
Mrs. Bean Ruth

She's not a 4 Intanian, but we had to include her in our photoshoot simply because she played a mighty role as Mrs. Bean, so there you go.

So that's that!
______________________________________

I know there are never enough words one can use to elucidate the oneness that was/is 4 Intan of 2006. The photo sessions were really meaningful, and I'm absolutely grateful for the spritely and CRAZY nature of all of you.

I sincerely hope you enjoyed the collection of photos. I mean, I definitely did, collecting them and going through them once again! I can almost detect laughter ringing in my ears. It makes me miss you lot even more, you know? But that's one of the reasons we've started this blog, right? To share the memories we've had together. So I've taken this opportunity to post the photos up and make you laugh and cry about the past, but also face the new day with a better spirit (to spread the Intan love)! Haw haw, I hope that was soppy enough. Thank you, peeps!

Hey everyone! It's so nice to hear from all of you again (well, those who've been online and updating lately, anyway).

Thanks, Kath, for the update and the photo - What a great start! It's a good idea to post it up, too.

First of all, I miss everyone!!! How la are my favourite people doing?? Having that continual bout of myocardial infarction from all that academic exam pressures? Yep, same boat, same boat. Can't wait till it's over for the next Intanian reunion. Please reply in the comment box of Sabine's post, everyone!

December Holiday!

I don't want to put my initials. It is erm...nevermind. LOL.
I'm sure most of you know why....

SAB

Hey buddies!

I have got updates regarding the trip we so-called plan for coming December. Up till now there has been no confirmation of anything. And quite a while ago, Carol has told me that she can't make it in December.

So girls....honestly, I think we are too ambitious in our previous plan. We may still be traveling within Malaysia, but we still got to think of the cost. Our plan is not exactly cheap either. And I doubt I myself can save enough for that trip. [need money for new handphone to replace my pathetic one...sudah rosak...T.T ]

Besides, this is our very FIRST road trip. I hope there are more to come. I think it should be better is we choose ONE venue. Makes planning much easier and more realistic too.

The question is what kind of trip are most of us interested in? The thing that would pop into your mind would be "as long as it is fun". No, that is not the answer. Adventure with Nature? Sea? Beach? Mountains? Or Theme Park? Please please let me know.

Now, I was thinking of Nature. LOL.

Snorkelling? I really had a fun time in Redang. But in December [monsoon season], we should opt for Pulau Payar in Langkawi. I have a friend staying on Langkawi that might be able to help me with the bookings if you guys are interested. =] And there are other places in Langkawi that we can go like the Mat Chinchang Cable Car and there is a GeoPark too.

Pulau Pangkor should be great too.

Cameron Highlands?

Taman Negara? There is a package. 3days/2night or even 4days/3nights.

Just one place fellas. Lets decide fast.

Feedback feedback. =]

The dawn of a new day

Hey Fellow 4 Intanians!
How ya all doin'?

FYI I'm still alive and well, learning how to scrub in and wear a surgical cap.
I think this is a fantastic blog created by our fantastic 'future president' Liani
Felt like reminding everyone we had closed a chapter and began a new one.
But we can always re-read our book.

So this blog can be a medium to reminisce at the means of the chapter we are in right now.
Absolutely brilliant.

As much as a hypocrite I am for not posting that often on blogs (mine included) I do encourage everyone to keep in touch this way or another.

Thus, beginning of a new day, it's alright to look back at the past and laugh, cry and let go of the bad and ugly, welcome the great times we had together.

Because it is your high school friends that will be your friends for a lifetime.

Cheerio!

Carol.

P/S: we should get more blog links for other Intanians if they have one :)

Faces

Hey fellow Intanians!

First up, I came across our class picture few days back and thought that maybe some of us would have forgotten who were our exact classmates. We might got it all mixed up with 3 Intan since the majority of us just remain in the same class after 2005. Some might have a good memory but certainly not for Christine and myself because we were chatting and we realised that we forgot some people. Sorry about that. *cheers*

If you forgot their names, please do refer to the school magazine.

Thats all for now, just a short update.

Good Morning Angels

This is cool. No wait, this is beyond cool. Kudos beribu-ribu kali to our dear LMK for coming up with this awesome idea. A class blog. And why didn't we think about this earlier?

Anyway, I can't really blog much now as a Physics test beckons. I just wanted to say how much I love the idea. The idea of all of us contributing to this little place we call fourintan.blogspot.com.

And now for a spanking new hot layout?

Afterthought - Hold up

LMK

Rethinking what I have posted, it would seem discriminatory to open a blog exclusively for Intanians of 2006 when we are more united as "Georgians", loving not just our classmates, but many types of wackos out of class. Besides, our life in SGGS was ultimately affected by the collective number of students in the school, and not simply limited to one single class.

So perhaps on certain instances, we could allow our neighbours to blog as visitors to the blog (so they'd have to begin the post with the word, "Visitor" or "Intruder" before their names/initials).

In any case, the 4 Intanians of 2006 rock (hehe).

Knock Knock - Point of Initiation

LMK

Selamat datang, first and foremost, to ex-inhabitants of the classroom on the 3rd floor of Block H in St. George's Girls' School!

This may seem extremely spontaneous, but as I was reviewing the facebook group, I realised we didn't have an active website as yet (our Info Page only says, "http://Coming http:// SOon!").

Also, most people do not check facebook (I wonder who that could be) as much as they spy on...err.. I mean, read each other's blogs.

Additionally, most of you have tried blogging before so you can understand how effective it is at getting people to check on updates now and then so long as the blog is continually updated. This is way better than the facebook group where we're not notified of any recent group wall comments or posted items.

The facebook group will still be used and may serve its purpose, but for a full package of updates and shared discussions amongst fellow Intanians, we could post things up on this blog. Perhaps we could use this blog for memories' sake where we post up anecdotes and stories of our Form 4 times, and then the facebook group can be used for reunion ideas and other events. Or it could simply be about everyday issues in Penang, even, and how growing up and being educated in a Penang school like SGGS has affected you in your maturity as a growing adult. What do you think?

In any case, I like this blog. I have my mind brimming with ideas already (can you just see the st(r)eam of ideas faraway in the sky? That's coming from me!)!

There are photos to post (of 2006 & even 2007). And we could use this blog as our portal where we Intanians share our past or current experiences, stories 'of the good old days', and pictures we've taken before. And when you start a blog post, always begin with your names (or initials, if you like), like how I've done for this post. That way, we can identify who posted what.

Can you picture it? For example, one post could be about the time Mr. Faizal taught us English and strummed his guitar to the Scorpion's Under the Same Sun with photos and videos as illustrations.

This shall be like a virtual time capsule, except that we are constantly adding new blogposts to this one. Hey, maybe we could make it like a project, where by 2017 (10 years after being in 4 Intan), we'll stop blogging on this page. And reread all our posts. Or something. Celebrate our anniversary at the same time. Who knows?

So, Intanians, blog away! Make it interesting, make it C-RaZY, make it fun!

(Note: Just don't publish a one-word post or anything insubstantial, like "I saw a bird. The End". If you are agitated and extremely compelled to do this, do so on a personal blog and not a community-based one like this! Much appreciated!)

I am very vely excited! Happy blogging, guys!

And Qis, I am not emo!
